Who’s your favorite Oklahoman? My favorite Oklahoman is definitely Joe Carter. As a Toronto Blue Jay in early 1990s, he became a Canadian national hero. The famous “touch’em all Joe” walk-off homerun to win the ’93 World Series against the Phillies is still one of my all-time favorite baseball moments.
If you could eat one food the rest of your life, what would it be? It would definitely be deer sausage, or deer meat prepared any way really.
Mountains or beach? Mountains. As a kid from western Canada, I have always enjoyed the mountains and have many great memories of camping and hiking in the summer and skiing in the winter. Now as an adult, I’m trying to give my kids similar memories. Durango, Colo., has become one of my favorite places in the world to be. It’s a gorgeous destination.
Have you met anyone famous? I had the chance to have a beer with Drew Carey in Las Vegas during Y2K. It was a chance meeting and a lot of fun. He is a very funny guy!
What’s your favorite drink? Usually I’m a simple beer man, but my favorite drink on special occasions is a Garrison’s whiskey on the rocks.
Favorite college team? This is one of those questions where the Canadian culture and the American culture can really diverge. School spirit is definitely one of the advantages that the U.S. has over Canada. I don’t really have much of an allegiance. When we lived in Houston, many of our friends supported Texas A&M, and when we lived in west Texas, Texas Tech was big. Now living here in Oklahoma, I am really looking forward to OU football games.
In one sentence, what do you actually do all day in your job? Since the pandemic has occurred, I’ve been working from home. So, this question was easy for me to find help answering. According to my kids, what I actually do all day in my job is talk on the phone while swinging a golf club. What’s humorous about this is that I was thinking that I add value all day in my job.
Favorite band in junior high? I was given a second-hand stereo from a family friend. The stereo came with my first CD player and a copy of U2’s Rattle and Hum album. I played the paint off of that CD. U2 was definitely my favorite band in junior high.
Name of your pet? We have two dogs, a Golden Retriever named Molly and a Black Lab named Luna.
What was your first job? Cart boy at Wolf Creek golf course. I’ve been “cursed” with the love of golf ever since.
What was your first car? 1987 Mustang.
If you could have dinner with one person, alive or dead, who would it be? I would like to have dinner with Bill Murray. To me that would be a very enjoyable evening.
What was your favorite TV show as a child? Knight Rider, KITT the talking car and the base in the back of a moving highway tractor was my fav.
What’s the number one item you would save from your burning house? An old camcorder that has the first moments of my daughter’s life on it and our wedding day. It is “pre-cloud” vintage.
What is your favorite thing about working in the oil and gas industry? My favorite thing about the oil and gas industry is the creativity that it inspires. The pace of innovation and technology evolution is something that inspires me to keep learning every day.
What is your favorite holiday? Thanksgiving is most definitely my favorite holiday. Family, food and football. You can’t ask for very much more.
What is the best gift you have ever received? A surprise trip from my wife to see my favorite NFL team play for the very first time.
What is the first thing you would do if you won the lottery? Take my family and friends on a vacation to celebrate.
Last movie you saw at the theater? Jungle Cruise. It was a really good family movie.
What’s your favorite app? Seeking Alpha.
